Jamestown Cladding & Profiling Ltd.

Jamestown is in existence since 1996 and since then has grown to be the largest and best equipped contract profiling house in Ireland. The company was founded when our chairman Mr Charlie Sherling began to broaden the range of products and services offered by the long established Sherlings Steel Stockholding company.

Sherlings was founded in 1932 and was originally a Cork based business.The success achieved in its early years and its growth in the 'metals' sector prompted a move to Rialto, Dublin in 1948.The continued success and need for expansion lead to a further move to Jamestown Road, Inchicore, Dublin in 1984. It was on this larger and better equipped site that several other Sherling backed businesses were founded.

Jamestown Classing & Profiling Ltd. In its first months of trading offered steel profiles from one small profiling machine offering very basic rough cut profiling. However, as demand for the service increased one machine was followed by another and within 3 years Jamestown were offering Oxy-Fuel cutting, conventional single head plasma cutting and hy-definition plasma cutting. Space restrictions within the Sherlings compex in Jamestown Road combined with the increase in traffic volumes in Dublin throughout the 1990's lead to the decision to move the entire profiling company to its own stand-alone site. A suitable site was chosen in Newbridge, Co Kildare and in late 2003 the move began.

By early 2004 the move was complete giving the company a 1.75 Acre site with two separate buildings with a total of almost 2500m.sq.

In conjunction with this move of location several new machine processes were added to the original list. From our Newbridge site we can now successfully offer our fast efficient service to all corners of the country.

As you can see we have a long tradition within the steel sector in Ireland and are proud to be associated with the Sherling family name. As we look to the past and see how our company has grown from humble beginnings we also look forward to continued success and further development in the years ahead.
